Final Named Summary
THANK YOU!
Firstly, thank you all for more than 1,000 downloads. This is 10x my expectations for a weird niche approach in a weird niche hobby. It’s very gratifying as I feel like I’m delivering on my desire to give back to the community of roleplaying that has inspired and supported me,
Also a huge thanks to the artists for this version:

A ‘FINAL’ VERSION
No dramatic changes in this version, just some clarifications, refinements and the addition of art. We’ll continue to evolve how we play using Named, but the Core Tools seem to have largely settled over the hundreds of sessions we’ve been using them, so not planning for there to be any more updates.
MATCHES THE ‘FINAL’ LONGER VERSION
The Named Summary is basically the first and last chapters of Named: Wightbred’s Toolkit which was also finalised recently and is available in print and free PDF. You definitely don’t need this 267 page and 41k word extended version, unless you want to explore hacking or you are getting stuck with something that you are not clear on how to solve.
SELF PRINTING
The mechanics are simple, so you probably won’t need a printed copy to reference in play, but they can be useful when getting started and for new players.
The Named Summary prints as an A5 booklet, or Letter sized with slightly smaller text and wider gaps at the top and bottom. Not all PDF viewers seem to offer booklet printing, so this is the only thing I use the free version of Acrobat for.
Once you’ve printed the booklet, you can print one of the three optional covers on thicker A5 paper and wrap it around. I like to use yellow paper for the black and white options.
I’ve found that I can use staples to bind these without a fancy stapler or bending the pages up. First I use a sewing needle to carefully pierce the six layers, and then put staples through and bend them down with a hard object like a ruler.
MORE WORLDS
Named is providing all the framework we need to play, so I’m unlikely to do something else that looks like a ‘system’ in the near future. Instead I’ll be concentrating on building worlds. I’m planning to collaborate with others as part of an evolving product that will be launched in the coming days. Reach out if you are interested in contributing!
